All the plans were underway, everything that was needed to be done was being done, everything was happening, and with the pandemic, not only me, but everyone had their processes interrupted, whether for a period or life itself interrupted. I was waiting for my departure to a distant land, towards the master’s degree. I had to return to my parents’ house, with nothing, no obligations to be done, I was almost returning to the obligations of a teenager, but without school or university applications. I found myself lying for days looking at the ceiling and in every corner of my room, of my parents’ house and the streets, in which I grew up, I met Time, the time I lived without existing.

Leading international historians, curators, and architects who are currently investigating Eileen Gray’s highly versatile career. Better known as a furniture designer, Gray actually worked in multiple fields. This symposium will elucidate the range of her architectural projects, her pioneering role as a Parisian gallerist and as an artisan of lacquer, among other topics. It will illuminate the fascinating Parisian milieu of artists, writers, architects, and craftspeople who helped to shape Gray’s groundbreaking ideas on modernism in design and architecture.
Talk (Live) @ Zoom
The architecture and design industries shape our world and play a role in influencing how we perceive and comprehend it. Therefore, it’s important to scrutinise what architects and designers do as well as promote exemplary work. A lot of them have historically sought to make a more valuable contribution to society rather than upholding the status quo. This talk will be from a critical design perspective and will show how architectural tools and methods are applied to address current affairs.

Maya Strobbe has been publishing zines and artists’ publications as RAMSDAM BOOKS since 2016. An important aspect of their practice as an artist, book designer and publisher is experiment and playfulness. To keep things fresh, they have the habit of making single copies. Single copies are experiments, adaptations of previously published books or prototypes. The focus when making a single copy is not on success but on exploring new materials and techniques, developing ideas, listening to intuition and having good old fun.
On August 20th Maya will open up their archive of single copies and present their bookmaking experiments from the last three years.

Ivan Usen is a composer and pianist originally from Sevilla (Andalucia, Spain). He is classically trained, but his musical interests have always been very diverse.
One of his main projects is Ivan Usen Trio, where classical, metal, minimalism, progressive rock, jazz, flamenco and other musical genres are mixed. In the recent years he has combined his work as a teacher with composing music for independent video games, recording three albums as drummer, composing and producing different songs and two albums for piano solo music in a more minimalist style without lossing his eclecticism, which hopefully will be launched in the coming months. A small part of his work can be seen on his YouTube channel.
